Plot:
Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, Pedro Pascal and Adria Arjona star in Triple Frontier, which J.C. Chandor will direct from a script he rewrote based on Mark Boal's. It tells the story of five friends who reunite to take down a drug lord, but it leads to a series of unexpected consequences. The Triple Frontier refers to the notorious border area between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, where the Iguazú and Parana rivers meet, making the area difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime. The project dates back to 2009, when Kathryn Bigelow was preparing to shoot a film after The Hurt Locker. In April 2017, it was reported that Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum both withdrew from the film due to dissatisfaction with J.C. Chandor's rewrite of the script, just four weeks before the film was originally scheduled to start. Less than a month later, in early May, foreign media first reported that Netflix was interested in taking over the project and wanted to invite brothers Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck to fill the vacancy and co-star with Mahershala Ali.
