The series is based on the comic book of the same name published by DC's Vertigo. The 13-episode second season tells the story of missionary Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) who, after learning that God is missing, sets out with his psychotic girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) to find that guy back. However, the protagonists will not have a smooth journey, because the murderer from hell will hunt them down.
