Plot:
In the late 1940s, the ancient Chinese nation ushered in an important moment that determined its destiny. The struggle between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party entered the critical stage. After the Liaoshen Campaign and the Huaihai Campaign, Chiang Kai-shek (played by Zhao Hengduo) was greatly touched and intended to withdraw 600,000 national troops from North China to Huaihai to build a solid Jianghuai defense line. At this critical juncture, Chairman Mao Zedong (played by Gu Yue) issued an order in Xibaipo, instructing Lin Biao (played by Ma Shaoxin) to lead the Northeast Field Army to secretly cross the Great Wall, and jointly with Nie Rongzhen's North China Field Army to launch the Pingjin Campaign, splitting Fu Zuoyi's (played by Li Dingbao) Corps for annihilation. Fu declined the request of American forces to stay in North China, and persuaded the president to give up the idea of withdrawing the army to the south, and successfully gained unprecedented power in North China. Who knew that during this period, the People's Liberation Army had quietly completed the encirclement of Pingjin. Fu Zuoyi felt that the general situation was gone, and decided to negotiate with his opponent through his daughter Dongju (played by Chen Hongmei), who was a member of the Communist Party. But the fruits of peace are hard-won, and more tests must be endured before that... This film commemorates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and is the third part of the decisive battle trilogy.
