The story begins in 2001 in Datong, Shanxi. Qiaoqiao (Zhao Tao) and Binbin (Liao Fan) have been in love for many years. Qiaoqiao hopes to get married and live a stable life with Binbin, but Binbin, as a local boss, has his own higher ambitions. In an accident, Binbin was plotted against and was in danger. Qiaoqiao stepped forward with Binbin's hidden pistol to save Binbin, but she was sentenced to five years in prison for illegal possession of a gun.
