Plot:
At the beginning of the 20th century, there was a Bailuyuan in Zishui County, Weihe Plain, where a group of ordinary but extraordinary people lived. The two families of Bailu merged into a village, interdependent and delicate. The young master Bai Jiaxuan (played by Zhang Jiayi) and Lu Zilin (played by He Bing) secretly competed for the position of patriarch. Jiaxuan married the fleeing Xiancao (played by Qin Hailu) and gave birth to three children, Xiaowen, Xiaowu and Bai Ling. Lu Zilin loved to take crooked paths and was determined to make his two sons Zhaopeng and Zhaohai glorify the family. Born in troubled times, the flags of the kings changed on the city walls. But no matter who became an official, there were always people at the bottom of the fish. Bai Jiaxuan, under pressure from all sides, became a tough bone on Bailuyuan. But when the children grew up, they had their own ideas. Zhaopeng (played by Lei Jiayin), who refused arranged marriage, joined the Communist Party, and his younger brother became an officer of the National Army. Bai Ling followed Zhaopeng into the party. Xiaowen was determined to please his father, but gradually deviated from the right path. The picture scroll of half a century shows the life of China in troubled times...
