The play tells the story of post-95 recruits Zhang Nengliang and Huang Xiaomeng who met veteran squad leader Niu Nuli and special forces soldier Yang Junyu after joining the army. The recruits and veterans are constantly tempered and grow through repeated clashes of ideas, and eventually become tank soldiers of the new era.
