The story begins with the demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson), who lives in the wind and the sea. He stole the heart of the goddess Te Fiti, causing the magma devil Erka to fall into a state of madness, and the small islands in the South Pacific are also facing the threat of destruction. More than a thousand years later, Moana (voiced by Auli'i Cravalho), the daughter of the chief on a small island, gradually grew up under the care of her parents. In her childhood, she accidentally picked up the heart of Te Fiti and was summoned by the sea. However, her father strictly forbade Moana to go out to sea, even though the island was under the threat of death.
