James Marsden and Ed Asner (Up, Elf) join Netflix's new series Dead to Me, with Linda Cardellini and Christina Applegate (Friends, Bad Moms) starring. Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls, Big Little Lies) wrote the script, and Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's production company co-produced it with CBSTV. The 10-episode series is described as a comedy version of Big Little Lies, focusing on a strong friendship between widow Jane (Applegate) and Judy (Cardellini), who is free and has amazing secrets. Marsden plays Judy's love interest, who looks confident and logical, but is actually a fragile man with a complicated past who is attracted to Judy's broad mind and free spirit. Asner plays Abe, who lives in a living institution where Judy works. He is more witty than most people, has a sweet relationship with Judy, and often relies on each other to get through the ups and downs of life.
