Plot:
In 1937, the Japanese invaded Nanjing. Guan Peng, a patriotic capitalist son, stayed to take care of his sister and met Shen Hanjie, the battalion commander of the National Army. Although they admired each other, they had misunderstandings because of the death of Guan Peng's sister. When Guan Peng wanted to avenge Shen Hanjie, Nanjing was broken and he witnessed the brutal Zhonghuamen Massacre. Shen Hanjie rescued Guan Peng, who was seriously injured. After learning the truth, Guan Peng put aside his personal hatred and vowed to avenge his fellow villagers. Because he successfully intercepted intelligence and sent it to the New Fourth Army base, Guan Peng and Shen Hanjie were appreciated and decided to stay and join the anti-Japanese team. In the long anti-Japanese struggle, Shen Hanjie's encouragement, the leadership's training, and his own intelligence and wisdom made Guan Peng gradually grow from a young man to a qualified New Fourth Army commander. He and his revolutionary comrade Shen Yan also went from happy enemies to love. At a critical juncture, he led the New Fourth Army assault company and killed the Japanese combat commander Nomura. After eight years of bloody fighting, the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression achieved final victory.
