Plot:
Miguel (voiced by Anthony Gonzalez), who loves music, was unfortunately born into a big family that regards music as a scourge. The family only hopes that Miguel will grow up quickly so that he can inherit the shoemaking industry that has been passed down for generations. The annual Day of the Dead is coming. On this day, the souls of deceased relatives can return to the world and reunite with the living with the photos placed on the altar. In an accident, Miguel actually traveled to the kingdom of the dead. Before the sun rises, he must get the blessing of a relative, otherwise he will stay in this world forever. Miguel decided to look for the deceased singing god Ernesto de la Cruz (voiced by Benjamin Bratt), because he is very likely his grandfather. On the way, Miguel met the down-and-out musician Hector (voiced by Gael García Bernal), and gradually discovered Ernesto's long-hidden secrets.
