Plot:
The best film in the main competition unit of the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2019! In a small town in the northwest of Jutland, Denmark, Chris and her uncle who has a mild stroke and is unable to move take care of each other and work and live together on the ranch. Although there are occasional trivial disputes in their lives, day after day, it is ordinary. When Chris faces the love that comes and the dream of veterinary medicine that has the opportunity to come true, how should she and her uncle adjust their respective states and give each other a breathing space? The film presents the regular and ordinary daily life in a plain and delicate way, and almost stubbornly gradually superimposes the conflicting and highly dependent relationship between the uncle and nephew. In the current situation in rural areas all over the world, the young generation faces the choice of whether to leave their hometown or not. Can family affection and dreams be taken into account? Starting from the emotions of the characters, a Danish story that is different from the urban appearance of Copenhagen is deeply outlined. “My mother’s relatives all live in the countryside, and I hope to present the true face of the Danish countryside through the film. The actor who plays the uncle is actually a farmer, and the farmhouse in the film is his real home. The two main actors are also real uncles and nieces in real life. I hope that the characters in my film can be as real and authentic as possible, close to the place, and speak the local language.” - Frei Petersen
