Plot:
Astronomy graduate student Kate DiBiaske (Jennifer Lawrence) and her professor, Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio), make a startling discovery: a comet orbiting within our solar system. Problem: The comet is on a direct collision course with Earth. And another problem: No one really seems to care. After all, warning humanity that an Everest is about to crash into Earth and destroy the world is hardly convincing. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tactic that takes them from apathetic President Orleans (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and chief of staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the studios of The Daily Rip—a cheerful morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until a comet hits Earth, they're desperate to get the world to look up a little bit, in order to keep the news rolling 24/7 on news channels and to attract the attention of a population addicted to their phones. Written and directed by Academy Award winner Adam McKay (The Big Short), Don't Look Up stars Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi (aka Kid Cudi), Himesh Patel, Melanie Lynskey, Michael Chiklis and Tomer Sisley.
