The story takes place in the bustling metropolis of New York, where life is not easy for the young girl Mekki (played by Onata Aprile). Mekki's mother Susanna (played by Julianne Moore) is an outdated rock star. She is old and depressed every day, and she can't extricate herself from anger. Susanna's husband Bill (Steve Coogan) is a neurotic art dealer. Their marriage has long been dead in name only, and Mekki's existence makes them unwilling to let go. Seeing that divorce is inevitable, fighting for Mekki's custody has become a top priority for Susanna and Bill. For this reason, they even found Lincoln (Alexander Skarsgård) and Margo (Joanna Vanderham) as new partners to increase their respective bargaining chips. In the family, everyone is fighting, but no one cares about Mekki's real thoughts, except Lincoln and Margo.
