Plot:
In the summer of 2016, Lin Jingyun, a Chinese who grew up in France, a food critic, and a senior editor of a food magazine, came to Shanghai to explore food and embark on a journey to find her roots. At this time, the Lin family's old house has been transformed into a restaurant, which is full of precious old Shanghai newspapers and old objects, recording the stories of the past. Lin Jingyun accidentally found a diary and opened it to read it. It tells the ups and downs of the love legend of a girl named Tianying. In the late 1920s, the Hong family's gang, the Lin family's chaebol, and the Xu family's police station stood in a three-legged trip, dominating Shanghai. In the calm, undercurrents surged. At the Longfu Theater, Tianying disguised herself as a man to replace her master Jiu Suihong on stage to save the scene, but she didn't expect to become a hit and became a famous actor. It also made Luo Fusheng, the second in command of the Hong Gang, and Xu Xingcheng, the son of the Xu family, fall in love at first sight, and each used his strengths to pursue her. Tianying is in love for the first time and thinks that the gentle and elegant Xu Xingcheng will be her sweet first love, but fate makes her meet the overbearing and domineering Luo Fusheng unexpectedly and get entangled with him. Unconsciously, Tianying's inner emotional balance is also quietly changing. At the same time, Duan Tianci regards Tianying as his fiancée and imprisoned her in the name of protection, but she breaks through the kindness and kidnaps him, and draws a clear line between them; Hong Lan, the daughter of the Hong family, has a crush on Luo Fusheng and makes things difficult for her everywhere, but she is moved by her true nature and the rival becomes a bestie.
