The play tells the story of the protagonists Ding Biyun (played by Dong Jie) and Ding Xiaojun (played by Yin Fang), an ordinary mother and son in a small town in northern Jiangsu. The play uses a narrative structure that breaks through traditional routines, and uses two parallel lines to outline the intertwined half-life trajectories of the two, presenting a complete epitome of life, to present a panoramic view of the Chinese family portrait.
