Plot:
The first of Gui Zhihong's "evil" trilogy. In the early years of the Republic of China, the Chen family in Xiguan, Guangzhou, had fallen into decline, leaving only Chen Xiuying (Tien Ni), her husband Yang Zhenyu (Wang Rong) and the maid who served Xiuying. Xiuying was weak and sickly, and would cough continuously if she moved a little. Zhenyu was a gambler and a drinker. Whenever he encountered something unpleasant outside, he would punch and kick Xiuying and the maid. The maid could no longer bear it and told Xiuying to go home. On this day, Xiuying welcomed Liang Qihua (Chen Sijia), who claimed to be the daughter of a servant in the Chen Mansion. Seeing that Xiuying was weak and frail, Qihua expressed her willingness to stay and take care of her. Xiuying explained Zhenyu's bad habits, but Qihua still did not hesitate, and Xiuying was grateful. Zhenyu did not give special treatment to this new maid, but Qihua was not a "good person" either. One day, she saw an opportunity to join Xiuying to kill Zhenyu. Xiuying fell into panic from then on, and was finally scared to death by Zhenyu's "ghost". What she didn't know until her death was that Qihua was Zhenyu's lover, and Zhenyu and Qihua also didn't expect that Xiuying's ghost was still lingering.
