Plot:
In Germany in 1939, 9-year-old girl Liesel and her brother were forced to be sent to a foster family in the outer suburbs of Munich. Her 6-year-old brother died on the way. After the deserted funeral, Liesel accidentally got her first book, "The Gravedigger's Handbook". This will be one of the 14 books that bring her infinite comfort. She is a lonely child. Her father was branded a communist and taken away by the Nazis; her mother also disappeared. With the help of her adoptive father who played the accordion, she learned to read. Despite the hard life, she found something more irresistible than food - books. She couldn't help but start stealing books. Liesel, the poor girl called "book thief" by the god of death, struggled to survive in war-torn Germany and incredibly helped those around her who were also suffering.
