James Marsden will star in the CBS limited series "The Stand," adapted from Stephen King's masterpiece, as the male lead Stu Redman! The series consists of 9 episodes, directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), who also wrote the entire script with Ben Cavill. The original novel depicts an accidental leak of a biological weapon developed by the US military, causing the entire world to be ravaged by the virus as if it were the end of the world, and only a few people survived.
