The work mainly tells the story of a group of mysterious man-eating monsters, ghouls, who are quietly expanding their sphere of influence on the streets of Tokyo. Kaneki Ken, who is an ordinary university student, is dying because of being hunted by ghouls. Although he gets an organ transplant, his organ donor is actually a ghoul, so his fate changes.
