Plot:
On April 23, 1945, the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China opened. Mao Zedong's political report "On the Coalition Government" at the Seventh National Congress aroused enthusiastic responses from progressive democratic figures across the country. At the same time, the Kuomintang also held the Sixth Plenary Session of the Central Committee. Because of Chiang Kai-shek's dictatorship, many people in the Kuomintang were dissatisfied. The Communist Party's advocacy of peace, democracy and unity was very popular. In desperation, Chiang Kai-shek decided to convene a national congress and promulgate a constitution. He wanted to use the form of a national congress to enable the Kuomintang to gain power and win over some other social parties. The battle of wits and courage between the two sides kicked off.
