Allison Tolman plays Alma, a timid and awkward housewife who remains optimistic in the face of a harsh world. Alma is desperate to have a place at the local garden club and to get her clumsy daughter married off soon. But her life is turned upside down when she learns of her husband's secret hobby. Nick Frost plays Alma's beloved husband, Bertram. He is a veterinarian who spends his days helping sick and injured animals get out of pain. Bertram is always affable and funny, but he has a secret hobby that is darker than his friendly nature would suggest.
