Season 2 examines the impact of drug problems on the urban poor, especially the survival difficulties of the blue-collar class represented by dock workers, some of whom make a living by helping smuggling groups transport drugs and other contraband. It also tells how the Barksdale gang continues to develop under the leadership of Stringer Bell after Avon was imprisoned.
