Farmer couple Baillieu and their son are both hearing-impaired, and rely on their daughter Paula as a sign language interpreter for their daily work and life. Paula's music teacher discovered her talent and encouraged her to participate in a singing competition on French radio. Paula, who longs to go to Paris to continue her musical career, will be separated from her family. This rite of passage has a special meaning for the Baillieu family.
