Gus Van Sant and Joaquin Phoenix are teaming up again after 11 years to bring the story of quadriplegic cartoonist John Callahan to the big screen. Callahan became addicted to alcohol and drugs at the age of 12. At the age of 21, he was in a car accident after drinking and became a quadriplegic. After that, he began to rebuild his life and eventually became a cartoonist who continued to transcend his physical limitations.
