The story begins in the turbulent year of 1949, when businessman Chen Xiaoyi (played by Chen Zhipeng) mortgaged the family heirloom jade seal given to him by his fiancée Li Jinnan to Jiuyoko (played by Hu Yue) to relieve his friend Ma Yunlu (played by Cao Li) from an urgent need. However, this move caused misunderstandings from Li Jinnan, who did not know the truth. Disappointed and sad, Li Jinnan chose to leave. Li Jinnan's grandmother (played by Xie Fang) suffered from Alzheimer's disease and sat under a locust tree all day looking into the distance, as if waiting for something, looking forward to something.
