The story takes place in Finland in 1944. The aftermath of World War II has not yet completely dissipated, and the conflicts between Finland and Germany still often lead to fierce wars. The simple and kind girl Helena (Krista Kosonen) is a midwife. By chance, she met the young and handsome officer Jonas (Lauri Tilkanen). Helena was deeply attracted by Jonas's charming temperament and followed him to work in the prisoner-of-war camp. Although Helena and Jonas both love each other madly, the damage and turbulent situation brought by the war forced the lovers to face the ending of parting ways. When they parted, the two agreed to meet again in the cabin where they once lived. However, when the war really ended, they completely lost contact with each other.
