Plot:
In the early years of the Republic of China, the century-old Shangchuntang Pharmacy was famous in Foshan. The famous doctor Du Can (played by Du Yange) was in charge of Shangchuntang and was well-known far and wide. Du Can had no children, and his only daughter Du Jiaqi (played by Zhong Jiaxin) was familiar with pharmacology under the influence of her father since she was a child, and had a benevolent heart to save the world. Jiaqi and the eldest son of Foshan Mayor Zhuang Jizu (played by Huang Haoran) were about to get married. This strong marriage became a good story in Foshan for a while. As the wedding date approached, Jiaqi ignored the pre-marital taboos and rushed to the slum Jinyuli with Jizu to stop the poor from using rats as medicine. Ding Yiyuan (played by Chen Zhanpeng), a reseller with a mercenary appearance, met Jiaqi, who was kind-hearted by nature, and found her stolen wedding necklace. Unexpectedly, after Jizu returned home, he felt unwell. It turned out that he and a large number of citizens were infected with spring plague. In order not to delay his wedding, Du Can took great risks to develop the powerful "Jiujiu Zhengqi Pills" and distributed them to citizens for free to treat spring plague. During this period, Jiaqi slowly discovered that the unruly playboy Yiyuan was actually loyal and righteous, and she couldn't help but respect him. The day before the wedding, Jizu died of illness. The mayor's father Zhuang Dunru was unable to get over the pain of losing his son. He not only closed down Shangchun Hall, but also imprisoned Du Can. Zhuang Dunru's second son Zhuang Jizong (played by Huang Haoran) returned from studying abroad and wanted to attend his eldest brother's wedding, but was shocked. The young and energetic Jizong was determined to find out the truth and clear the Du family's name.
