Plot:
"Kite" is adapted from the work of the same name by the writer Shigematsu Kiyoshi. The novel once won the "No. 1 in Kadokawa Bunko's Touching Selection". In the 1980s, Ichikawa Yasuo (played by Uchino Seiyang) went to work at a transportation company after graduating from an industrial college. At the age of 25, he married the war orphan Misako (played by Tokiwa Takako). Three years later, he gave birth to his son Asahi (played by Sato Takeru), and the family lived a joyful and happy life. Misfortunes never come singly. When Asahi was three years old, his mother Misako was crushed to death by a wooden box in order to protect her son Asahi. This joy was broken by the sudden tragedy. For the only son left by Misako, Yasuo, as a clumsy man with low education, love of smoking and drinking, and who can't take care of children, can only grit his teeth and use his fists and tears to try to fulfill Misako's unfulfilled wish. From that day on, Yasuo raised his son clumsily while missing Misako...
