Hubie DuBois, played by Adam Sandler, lives in Salem, a small town near Boston. He is usually enthusiastic about charity and helping others, and he loves Halloween, but he speaks strangely, and everyone thinks he is stupid. On Halloween night, Hubie discovers that there are real ghosts killing people and causing chaos. The police and the residents of the town don't believe him, but Hubie's determination to save the town will not change.
