Plot:
Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, All the Light We Cannot See is a groundbreaking limited series that tells the story of Marie-Laure, a blind French girl, and her father, Daniel Leblanc, as they flee German-occupied Paris with a legendary diamond to prevent it from falling into Nazi hands. A brutal Gestapo officer seeks to possess the gem for his own selfish desires. Marie-Laure and Daniel soon find refuge in Saint-Malo, living with a reclusive uncle who joins the Resistance and broadcasts secret messages via radio. However, in this once idyllic seaside city, Marie-Laure’s path is destined to collide with an unlikely kindred spirit: Werner, a brilliant teenager conscripted by Hitler’s regime to track down illegal broadcasts, who has a secret connection with Marie-Laure and shares her belief in humanity and hope. Masterfully interweaving a decade of Marie-Laure and Werner’s lives, All the Light We Cannot See is a story about the extraordinary power of human connection: a beacon of light that can guide us through our darkest times. The four-episode limited series is directed by Shawn Levy and written by Steven Knight. It stars newcomers Alia Mia Roberti and Nell Sutton as older and teenage Marie-Laure, Mark Ruffalo as Daniel LeBlanc, Hugh Laurie as Uncle Etienne, Louis Hoffmann as Werner, Lars Ettinger as von Rempel and Marion Bailey as Madame Maneck.
