The story follows Dr. Joe O'Loughlin, who seems to have the perfect life - a devoted wife, a loving daughter, a successful career as a clinical psychologist, plenty of media appearances and a book deal. Joe becomes an internet hero when he saves a patient from committing suicide by jumping from the tenth floor of the hospital where he works. When the body of a young woman is found in a shallow grave in a West London cemetery, veteran police inspector Vincent Ruiz and his young partner, Sergeant Riya Devi, are sent to investigate. A successful writer, Dr. Joe is often consulted for advice, but when he meets Sergeant Devi, he takes it too far to offer his help. Is Joe, an adventurous, rule-breaking man, hiding something? He has recently been diagnosed with a debilitating illness, which may explain his behavior.
