The story tells of a mysterious giant sinkhole in Los Angeles that splits a family in two, forcing the mother and son to separate from the father and daughter. When part of the family finds themselves in an inexplicable primitive world with a group of strange people, they must try to survive and uncover the mystery of where they are and whether there is a way home. Gonzalez will play an Air Force pilot who is recruited to lead the mission to save those who have fallen into the sinkhole.
