"Kangxi's Secret Visits 4" follows the style of the new-style ancient costume light comedy that uses the past to satirize the present and criticize the current ills. It is divided into three unit stories: "Golden Dart", "Silk and Silk" and "Tea". In "Golden Dart", Kangxi (played by Zhang Guoli) went to Shanxi for a private visit. In order to find out the truth behind a trip, he met Lin Feng'er (played by Deng Jie) who looked similar to Concubine Yi; "Silk and Silk" tells the story of Kangxi's rectification of the unhealthy trend of eunuchs in power, and Sandezi (played by Zhao Liang) and Fayin (played by Hou Kun) made secret investigations along the way; "Tea" was triggered by Sa Rong'er (played by Yang Mingna), the daughter of Jiangnan Tea Supervisor, who avenged her father. The classic ancient costume TV series "Kangxi's Secret Visits" has produced five works from 1997 to 2007. These five works have continued the style of the series, depicting Kangxi's approachable character in his incognito visits, and his powerful side in punishing corrupt officials. The first four parts of the series were directed and acted by Zhang Guoli, and the fifth part was directed by Sun Shupei.
