Plot:
Teenager Marie Adler (Kaitlyn Dever) calls the police to report that she was raped by an intruder in her home, but investigators and those around her doubt the truth of the incident. Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, detectives Grace Rasmussen and Karen Duvall (Emmy Award winners Toni Collette and Merritt Wever, respectively) meet while investigating two very similar rape cases and work together to hunt down the potential serial rapist. Unbelievable is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning article "An Unbelievable Story of Rape" (by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong) published by The Marshall Project and ProPublica, and the This American Life radio series "Anatomy of Doubt." Directed by Oscar-nominated Susannah Grant and Lisa Cholodenko, the series tells the story of unspeakable trauma, unwavering determination and amazing resilience. The series is produced by CBS Television Studios, with showrunner Susannah Grant and Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Lisa Cholodenko, Ayelet Waldman, Michael Chabon, Katie Couric, Richard Tofel, Neil Barsky, Robin Semien and Mary serving as executive producers.
