The film will be based on an article published by Franklin Foer in The New York Times Magazine, focusing on a man who fawns over the rich and powerful, Albrecht Muth (Waltz), who seduces and successfully marries a much older and wealthy woman, Viola Drath (Redgrave), in 1990, when he was 26 and she was 71. Muth successfully entered the upper class through Drath, and his purpose behind it was always hidden in the dark until Drath was found dead in his home in Georgetown in 2011. Muth was convicted of first-degree murder in 2014 and sentenced to 50 years in prison with no parole period.
