Plot:
Adapted from the two short stories "Capone Crying Loud" and "Roosevelt Laughing Loud" in the novel of the same name by Kajiyama Kiyuki. Al Capone was a Chicago mafia boss who grew up during the Prohibition period in the United States. At that time, there were many Chinese and Japanese laborers in Chicago, San Francisco and other places in the United States. Over time, they formed their own gangs and controlled a certain sphere of influence. Junnosuke, a member of the Japanese troupe, wanted to become a Naniwa opera actor, so he became a disciple of Taozhongxuan Yunemon and met the geisha Xiaoran through a matchmaker. Xiaoran was tattooed with a terrible octopus tattoo on her back because she betrayed her husband. Xiaoran agreed to introduce him to Ushiemon, a disciple of Taozhongxuan, on the condition that Junnosuke would be her lover. Later, Junnosuke traveled to the United States at the suggestion of Ushiemon. In order to avoid her vicious husband who was about to be released from prison, Xiaoran came to the United States with Junnosuke as a song master. When they arrived in the United States, they found that they were deceived by the middleman. Xiaoran became a prostitute because of gambling, and Junnosuke became a beggar. Among the various forces in the United States, there is a legendary figure named Guntetsu, who was born in a circus. After the boss Yoshida was shot, he took charge of the Japanese gang and operated several casinos, brothels, restaurants and bars. After Guntetsu became the leader, he let Xiaoran take charge of the brothel and took Junnosuke into the high-end nightclub, where he saw American song and dance performances and met Lillian, but Junnosuke still insisted on developing his own Langhua music, hoping that one day the president would hear his own Langhua music. At that time, San Francisco was a city of desire mixed with violence. Al Capone sent his younger brother Frank Capone to come and monopolize the resources of secret wine making, and the "authentic Cisio" whiskey sold by Guntetsu became a thorn in the eyes of the Capone brothers. Guntetsu, Junnosuke, and Xiaoran began to confront Capone's forces. Xiaoran died in a car accident, Guntetsu died of poisoning from eating pufferfish, and Junnosuke asked Lillian to help him commit suicide by cutting open his stomach and ended his life.
