Plot:
Around 1990, immigration to the United States became the dream of many Chinese people, especially artists. Beijing musician Wang Qiming (Jiang Wen) and his wife Guo Yan (Yan Xiaopin) came to the United States, which they had longed for for a long time. Soon, their beautiful dream was hit. After struggling for several times, Wang Qiming, who had never become an artist, was depressed for a while and became a businessman. He accumulated considerable wealth in just a few years. But suddenly looking back, he found that the loss and gain were hard to calculate: although the wise and beautiful Achun (Wang Ji) became his confidante, Guo Yan also ran to his biggest business competitor David (Robert Daly). Later, his daughter Ningning (Ma Xiaoqing) came to the United States. She could not understand his and Guo Yan's choice at all, and regarded Achun as an enemy. Gradually, she began to retaliate against them with American indulgence that he and Guo Yan could not accept.
