At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the situation was turbulent and the forces were surging. Wudang disciple Zhang Cuishan (played by Zhang Zhiyao) and the daughter of the leader of the Demon Cult Yin Susu (played by Wang Yuanke) were involved in the turmoil of the martial arts world because of a fight for a dragon-slaying sword. In desperation, they both committed suicide. They left behind a son, Zhang Wuji (played by Deng Chao), who grew up in setbacks and difficulties and acquired peerless martial arts through many adventures and coincidences. The upright Zhang Wuji was young and promising. With his good martial arts, he not only saved the Ming Cult from danger and was pushed to the position of the leader, but also got to know the princess of the Yuan Dynasty, Zhao Min (played by Ady An), who was willful and calculating. During the repeated fights, Zhao Min gradually fell in love with Zhang Wuji, but Zhang Wuji's love for her was tested by her childhood sweetheart Zhou Zhiruo (Liu Jing) who repeatedly framed Zhao Min out of jealousy. The appearance of the Heaven Sword and the Dragon Sabre caused a fight between the good and evil in the martial arts world, and the distinction between good and evil made Zhang Wuji very conflicted about his love for Zhao Min.
