Serinda Swan will star in Morwyn Brebner's CBC series Coroner. Inspired by MR Hall's bestselling series of novels, the series centers on a newly appointed coroner who investigates bizarre deaths in Toronto. Production will begin in the Toronto area later this summer, with the series premiering on CBC in winter 2019. Serinda Swan will play the title character, Jenny Cooper, a courageous, determined, but emotionally fragile coroner with a tenacious pursuit of the truth. Jenny was a former ER doctor who had recently lost her husband and was left alone with her children; the death of her loved one opened up a primal connection to death and tied up the secrets of her past. She loves her son more than she loves life, and is trying to raise him while also taking care of herself.
