Plot:
The turbulent era at the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate in 1118. The Edo Shogunate was on the verge of disintegration due to the return of power by Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu, and the opposition between the shogunate and the anti-shogunate faction became increasingly intensified. The Shinsengumi, led by Kondo Isami and Hijikata Toshizo, suffered a heavy blow after the Aburanokoji Incident, but still decided to pledge allegiance to Yoshinobu. At this time, the emperor issued a secret edict to the Satsuma and Choshu domains to overthrow the shogunate, and then issued a great decree to restore the imperial rule. The court announced the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Yoshinobu, who promised to do so, moved to Osaka, and the Shinsengumi once again prepared for war as a shogunate retainer rather than a ronin group, and moved its base to the Fushimi Bugyosho. Shinsengumi soldier Ichimura Tetsunosuke, with his longing for the girl Saya with whom he had a close relationship since the past, prepared to face the fate of being a member of the Shinsengumi together with his good friend Yamazaki Jun and his brother Tatsunosuke, who was a team doctor, as a junior. However, Young men who went to Kyoto hoping to become samurai rushed into battle in order to return home in glory, even if what they would eventually face was a sad farewell.
