In a mountain in the northeastern region of Japan, a junior high school student named Komachi works as a shrine maiden in a shrine that worships bears. One day, Komachi said to her guardian, a bear named Nazu, "I want to go to a high school in the city." In order to give the naive Komachi the basic skills to live in the city, Nazu launched a series of trials and asked Komachi to pass them.
