The play tells the love story of Wen Ruyu, a civil official from the Southern Kingdom, and Hai Lanzhen, a princess from the Western Kingdom, who jointly explore the truth as their "memories of past lives" continue to accumulate, and how the two go from loving and hating each other to supporting each other.
