The film is adapted from Jin Yong's novel "Swordsman", which tells the story of Linghu Chong (played by Huang Xiyan) who wanted to quit the world of martial arts but was forced to be involved in the turmoil between good and evil in the martial arts world, and unexpectedly met the leader of the evil cult, Dongfang Bubai (played by Zhang Yuqi), and thus began their journey to the Shura field.
